Carleton Watkins is a nature photographer that took photos in California, mainly the Yosemite Valley. He was born in 1829 and died in 1916. The photos that he took influenced the decision to make Yosemite Valley into a state park. He came to California to find gold, but ended up failing, so he took up photography, where he became well known. He is unique for his photos in nature.

I chose this photographer for his photos. They were beautiful and sweeping. He inspired me by making me want to preserve the world's ecosystem. Nothing changed when I was working on the project.
